Walking the beach to relax from Cardiff to Carlsbad is a memorable experience.
The beach between Cardiff and Carlsbad is unbeatable for picturesque sunsets and tasty waves.
San Diego Cardiff
To start this walk, I park the car south of the restaurant row in Cardiff.
Parking is on the side of the road, right in front of the beach. Give me convenience, or give me death!
As you head north, you first pass Charlies and other restaurants.
Past the restaurants, you will reach the beginning of the cliffs that will line the beach until the end of the walk.
The San Elijo camp is located on the initial bluffs and extends approximately one mile to the north.
The center is top-rated and the temporary home of locals and tourists.
You can tell the difference by contrasting tans with sunburns.
Sea Cliff County Park
After San Elijo, you will hike through Sea Cliff County Park, which has over 100-foot-high cliffs.
An area affectionately known as Swamis quickly follows this park.
The name derives from the size above the ridge and is home to the Self Realization Fellowship Center.
This area is known as a surfing hot spot but is very crowded.
However, you can rest admiring around 50 surfers maneuvering to reach the waves.
Besides, traffic jams are not just limited to California highways.
North of Swamis
You will cruise along a long stretch of sand surrounded by 50 to 60-foot cliffs in Encinitas.
For those with wicked humor, a relatively popular game is Watch the House Fall.
Yes, the cliffs are slowly giving way. As houses erode, they lose floors, then patios, etc.
They say real estate is all about location, location, but sometimes an oceanfront home isn’t so great.
The Encinitas section of the hike is quite long.
With the high cliffs, you will find deserted areas of the beaches, even during the summer.
The only thing that breaks the solitude is Moonlight Beach, a famous beach among the locals.
Otherwise, it’s just you, the shells, and the racers until you get to the end of the cliffs and south of
Carlsbad
It’s the right time to turn around and find the car.
The walk from Cardiff to South Carlsbad is approximately 5 miles each way, flat and fast.
